This versatile “Culinary Safari” will give you the onetime opportunity to explore

African food and beverages on our hands-on cooking experience in combination with

a classic safari adventure.


The cuisine of South Africa is sometimes called "rainbow cuisine", as it has had a

variety of multicultural sources and stages. It has a strong influence by the Cape Malayans

and their spices as well as traditional pots of food cooked on the open fire.


The experience begins on local street markets, where we buy seasonable ingredients from local greengrocers and shops. After our shopping- and discovery tour through typical local “farm-stalls”, we bring our pickings back to our base camp, an exclusive tended camp in a “Big 5” game reserve, where the whole adventure starts.


In the mornings we take our guests on classic 4 x 4 game drives to view the uniqueness of the bush with its wildlife and the timeless rhythms of this land, its harshness and beauty will inspire you and delight your senses. 


After your return our local chef spoils you with an excellent brunch while you enjoy looking back on the morning adventures. This is the best inspiration to get started with the preparation for the afternoon’s cooking sessions and we will discuss the day’s topic.


During the day you can relax in or around the pool at the main lodge, overviewing the waterhole with its different species of animals and birds coming down for a drink or taking a cool bath.


In the afternoon we start the cooking sessions in “African style”. Our resident chef will introduce you to characteristic recipes. You will find out more about wild herbs and traditional spices, local veggies and fruits and different meet, which are typical for South Africa.  We will also invite “guest-chefs” for our seminars and we work and learn under their supervision.


After food preparation we enjoy the African sun set with a typical African “sundowner”, which is a drink of your choice while watching the sun disappearing at the horizon from the deck of the main lodge - over viewing the waterhole, before we finish our “cuisine-creation”, which will be served under the African sky next to the romantic fireplace in the boma.

“Unforgettable Holidays”

We spent a family reunion at "Claudia Schnell Safari's" over holidays. For most of us it was the first Safari ever and we really got a feeling for nature. The Lodge itself is lovely with it's tented chalets, clean and comfortable and the staff is phenomenal. Claudia & Robin made us feel at home and managed to accommodate every wish while providing the true African experience. Claudia & Robin are very knowledgeable and showed a passion for what they were doing - BIG time! They made sure that we got the most out of our drives. Robin, in his turn, provided us with unique dining cooked on the open fire – the food and wines were excellent. But most importantly: the game viewing was brilliant....there is a lot to see and even more to experience! We had a really enjoyable stay and will be back!
